Koofr Setup: Connect & Transfer Files

Koofr is a cloud storage service. Blober connects to your Koofr account with your email and an application password, and shows your Koofr storage together with any cloud you have connected inside Koofr, such as Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive.

  • ✅ Browse folders and files, in your Koofr storage and in connected clouds
  • ✅ Upload files
  • ✅ Download files
  • ✅ Delete files and folders
  • ✅ Copy files within Koofr, including between your storage and a connected cloud (done by Koofr, no download needed)
  • ✅ Move files within Koofr, including between your storage and a connected cloud (done by Koofr, no download needed)

A Koofr account and an application password. Blober cannot create one for you.

Blober signs in with your Koofr email and an application password, so your real Koofr password stays with you.

FieldWhat it is
Koofr account emailThe email you sign in to Koofr with
Application passwordA generated password from Koofr's Preferences
  1. Sign in to the Koofr web app
  2. Open Preferences => Password => App passwords (https://app.koofr.net/app/admin/preferences/password)
  3. Enter a name, for example Blober, and click Generate
  4. Copy the generated password into Blober

An application password belongs to that name and can be revoked from the same page.

Koofr calls each storage location a mount. The top level of the Koofr file list in Blober shows them side by side:

  • Koofr: your own Koofr storage
  • Each cloud you connected in Koofr, for example Dropbox
  • Folders other people shared with you, marked (shared). Read-only ones are marked read-only

Pick a mount, or a folder inside it, as the source or the destination of a workflow. The destination is always a specific mount or folder: pick the Koofr mount (or a folder in it) to write into your own storage, or pick a connected cloud (or a folder in it) to write into that cloud.

Connect a cloud to Koofr in the Koofr web app first. Koofr offers this only on paid plans and only for Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive, so a free account shows just its own storage and shares. Blober reads and writes through Koofr, so the connection has to stay active there.

Koofr folders keep their structure, and Blober creates missing folders when it uploads. Names are case-insensitive: Hello.doc and hello.doc cannot sit in the same folder.

  • Default: Skip if a file with the same name exists (case-insensitive)
  • Used for: Destination

For the policies (skip, overwrite), where the control appears, and how deduplication differs from resuming a task, see Deduplication.

Copy and move inside the same Koofr account happen on Koofr's side, so they are quick and use none of your bandwidth. That includes copying or moving between your Koofr storage and a connected cloud such as Dropbox, in either direction.

Koofr slows or briefly refuses requests during long runs of uploads. Blober retries these automatically.

"Invalid credentials" or connection errors

Section titled ""Invalid credentials" or connection errors"
  • Generate a new application password and try again
  • Make sure the email is the one you sign in to Koofr with
  • Refresh the file list in Blober
  • Check that the files exist in your Koofr account
  • For a connected cloud, check in the Koofr web app that the connection still works

Koofr's free plan blocks downloads of some file types, such as executables, from anything other than its own apps. Blober is not one of Koofr's own apps, so those files are listed but fail to download, and Blober does not retry them. Koofr describes the limit in its help.

The file is still in your account. You can download it with a Koofr app, or upgrade to a paid Koofr plan.

Start the task again. Blober retries the file from the beginning and replaces an existing file only when the overwrite policy is set.

Remove the application password you created for Blober in Koofr Preferences.

  • Application passwords only. Koofr has no sign-in flow for third-party apps, so you manage the password in Koofr
  • Names are case-insensitive
  • Names with emoji are refused by Koofr, while other symbols and non-Latin letters work
  • The free plan blocks some downloads, as described above
