Filen Setup: Connect & Transfer Files
Filen is an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service. Blober signs in through Filen's own login page and decrypts files on your computer as they transfer.
Capabilities
Section titled "Capabilities"- ✅ Browse folders and files
- ✅ Upload files (encrypted automatically)
- ✅ Download files (decrypted automatically)
- ✅ Delete files and folders (moves to the Filen trash)
- ✅ Move files inside Filen (done by Filen, nothing is downloaded)
- ❌ Copy inside Filen (files pass through your computer)
Prerequisites
Section titled "Prerequisites"A Filen account (free or paid).
- Go to Workflows => New Workflow
- Select Filen as the source or destination
- Click Open Filen Login
- Sign in to Filen in the window that opens. If two-factor authentication is on, complete it there
- Wait for your drive to load. Blober picks up the session and the window closes
Blober does not store your password. Filen's login page handles it.
To use more than one Filen account, choose + New Account in the Account dropdown and sign in again. Each account keeps its own session.
File Organization
Section titled "File Organization"Folders keep their structure, and Blober creates missing folders when it uploads. Filen keeps one file per name in a folder, so a new upload to an existing name replaces the old file.
Deduplication
Section titled "Deduplication"- Default: Skip if a file with the same name exists
- Used for: Destination
For the policies (skip, overwrite), where the control appears, and how deduplication differs from resuming a task, see Deduplication.
Copy and Move
Section titled "Copy and Move"Moving a file or folder inside the same Filen account happens on Filen's side. The encrypted data stays where it is, so a move is quick and uses none of your bandwidth. Missing destination folders are created first, and a file already at the destination name is replaced only when the overwrite policy is set.
Copying inside Filen, and any transfer to or from another provider, goes through your computer: Blober reads each file from the source and writes it to the destination. Files are decrypted and encrypted again on the way.
Troubleshooting
Section titled "Troubleshooting""Sign-in was cancelled" or the login window closed early
Section titled ""Sign-in was cancelled" or the login window closed early"Click Open Filen Login again and finish signing in, including two-factor authentication, before the window closes.
